What does it feel like to go all on with who future you is – even if you don’t have the time or money right now?

Have you ever made a big investment in your business or in your life where you didn’t have the money – but you felt so dedicated to stepping into that next thing for yourself and for your business? 

And you jumped in anyway, made it happen, and knew that by doing that you would be able to create what you want in your business?

I always talk about how you should be making decisions in alignment with who you want to be in a year. Thinking back to a year ago, I was making a really big decision about jumping into another investment when I literally didn’t have the time OR the money.

I have been in this “scary decision place” two times before, and both of them have been for business coaching experiences. For me, I’ve noticed that every time I know my next step I don’t want to go at it alone – I need the accountability of being in some kind of program, having a mentor, working with somebody to really help me develop those next steps for my business.

I know I have the power to figure this stuff out on my own, but I’d rather learn from somebody else’s mistakes and follow somebody else’s guidance in order to make it happen for my own business.

The last time I made a big uncomfortable investment I was developing an agency for Pinegate Road and I joined a mastermind that was specific to helping agency owners step up as leaders, learn how to hire the right people, and all that good stuff that comes along with owning an agency. 

It was the scariest decision I’ve ever made. It was a huge investment for me at the time because I’d barely been making months where I could afford it. I was just coming out of one of those deep times where money was super tight, I wasn’t making the right investments, and I had just gotten myself out of the financial hole…so to make that investment in the mastermind was terrifying.

But there’s something that comes to committing to those next steps for yourself that really helps you step into that next level version of yourself, and literally, by saying yes to some of those investments it can shift your entire energy and your entire being to be able to receive that next level of yourself. I’ve found this to be true every.single.time I’ve invested in something.

That’s not to say that making those big decisions is any less scary! 

Money has been tight in my business since coming off of maternity leave. I’ve been hustling through just to make sales, and since getting back from the mastermind retreat I realized something: I really want to be stepping into a coaching role in my business. I want to develop myself as a coach and a mentor and really dig into that subconscious reprogramming of all of that internal stuff that really makes big change possible and sustainable for the long-term.

Change has to come from inside to take things to the next level – if we just change the look of our website or the strategy of our business, but we’re not changing who we are as people to level up our mindset and our internal programming, then it isn’t going to be sustainable in the long run and we’ll just end up falling back on old habits that don’t serve to elevate us.

Here’s the thing: you don’t have to know the end game to take these next steps, you just have to know that right now your heart is telling you to lean into something and jump into this bigger journey that you don’t know the outcome of yet. 

One final note:

Don’t let the unknown hold you back. Maybe you have an idea of where you want to head but you don’t know all the details and you’re waiting for clarity – I’m here to tell you, that’s not how this works. You can only find your clarity by actually taking steps towards it…so if you are feeling like you need a plan or you need complete clarity before you take that first step you will never move forward because that certainty does not exist – the only way you can find it is by taking action.
