I’m completely mesmerized this work entitled: the Nocturne Series, by Chad Wys. In most of his work, he deals with the deconstruction of what art is, and what art means. While he doesn’t explicitly say that this series deals with the deconstruction of the past art histories and their transition into new media, that’s what I’m getting out of this. It’s neat to see a concept fully fledged in a work, without having to dig so deep to find it. These seriously jumped out of the computer and spoke to me, and I knew I had to share them right away. There is something so surreal about the fact that these are classical works of art, or in the same fashion, and that they have been completely changed to make modern and minimal works of art. You wonder what’s hiding under all those layers of paint, and it starts to really get your head thinking in the possibilities of where art can really go.

Here is a quote from Chad on how he uses color: “Through a variety of mixed media I have chosen as my inspiration a color palette that is at times complimentary and at other times destructively contradictory. The literal destruction of an object is secondary to the overall effect created by color (dis)harmony and the overall aesthetic of the reclaimed and reinvented object/experience.”

I can’t wait to see what else Chad busts out over the years, I’m an instant fan.
